Forty 49 :: Family Bling
We had a visit from someone special yesterday.
My sister (who is very "fancy" ) came up for a bit. It was a lovely afternoon of lunch, little ones napping and then when the bigger kids came home - some bling.
I said, "Hey, I'm going to make you a necklace",
to my sis and sure enough,
wouldn't you know,
soon it was a bling party with requests pouring in from the 9 and under crowd. (they do so appreciate their fancy aunty and like to be a bit fancy just like her).
So, we whipped up some bling for the girls and even made one for a special girl far away (we love you, boo boo kitty ;) who missed out on the action (pesky college getting in the way and all..).
Fancy this and fancy that.
note ~ by the way ~ i've had a few requests here and there so, i'm adding some things to my Etsy shop and will continue to do so occasionally. now, this was not my intent at all when i started this project but sometimes, when i have extras, i will be popping them over there. trying to make it all affordable and fun too ~ i might be able to take requests so if you've seen anything you like, feel free to drop me a line... now back to our regular programming ;)

Blast 48 :: Last minute...
...birthday gifts.
Last evening I was able to scoot out for a bit to celebrate a lovely friend's birthday. Folks who know me understand how nearly impossible it can sometimes be for me to get out the door for a night out let alone be there on time ;) Mind you, not that I don't have support here. It's just , well, you know how it can be, yes? The many little and big to-dos that need to be tended to before you can hit the door. Then making sure everyone is well settled into a groove and all. Don't want to leave them hanging high and dry, right? Well, it must have been in the stars because I actually made it out the door with 5 kids in tow and was even on time!
I even had both shoes on and appropriate clothing...amazing, the little things.
My husband met me after work and he took the kids on an icecream adventure while the littlest one and I had a super lovely visit with the ladies.
It was a bit of a surprise since I didn't know that I might be able to attend until very nearly the time of so I whipped these up from the stash. Just some simple earrings and a pendant with cording. So simple yet, made with love. Gotta love that.
Happy Birthday to you dear, Thalia! So glad it all came together :)

Blast 46 :: Cap it (and a giveaway!)
above...some of my favorites from last night's crafting session....
Got the bottle caps and epoxy domes from here. Such a wealth of good stuff there! These were such a lot of fun. I had the pictures from some old pics that had been scanned that I purchased ages ago from here and had tucked away with the intent of using them for some collage work. I like this idea much better. It really highlights the sweetness and beauty of those old works...
Now, what to do, what to DO with them? I can make necklaces (and will)...or magnets (and probably will too)...but, I also have more caps and epoxy so I was thinking of thrifting some old golden books and buying 2 of each and punching out identical little pics from them to make sweet travel sized memory games. Fun little birthday gifts, stocking stuffers and what have you, no?
Here is the lot of them from last night....
Hope your Labor Day is a good one!
P.S. and the winner of that owl?
Well, looks like the magic mixing is thinking that Cindy needs a woolen owl! Congrats Bits of Goodness, buddy! Shoot me an email and I will get that out to you this week :)
Good luck to everyone for next week's drawing!

Blast 8:: Sunshine girl
Swim lessons, morning camps, driving a teen around, a teen driving us around, picking up kids from camp, holding our own camp, friends, more friends... did I say friends? Goodness, life is beautifully rich.
Here is a little of what came before my crafting today....
and when it was all said and done and all were tucked in tight., here is what came after; turning this...
into this ~
...for my birthday girl. This girl who loves orange and yellow - little bursts of summer - and a splash of blue for the summer sky and lake & ocean she loves so much.
The beads came from here- love, love them and all the good work they do.
So fun to pick up a craft that I hadn't given a whirl since my oldest was in the womb. Amazed at how it seemed like it was just yesterday that I had last beaded some string. So very glad that this destashing while crafting is bringing me back pieces of myself I hadn't connected with in ages.
Hopefully, creating something is finding its way into your days too!
