A fourth time....this is a keeper though (thanks to Cindy for the inspiration! - you're getting some buttons, girl, just for the help! :)
It's an 8x10 (agreed upon size) so not too imposing on any wall (hopefully! ;).
With a wool felt front and back this hangs much more nicely than the crocheted piece. I think I should have felted the crocheted wool prior to sewing on the embellishments. Oh well, live and learn! Now, what to do with that...?
Most importantly, I'm happy with this and feel it is a nice piece to gift to someone rather than just something to just get done which is what I was having a hard time with before.
Thanks again to Cindy for sending along that photo! It was perfect :)
xoxo

Blast 62 :: Wall Hanging Redo

Blast 55 :: This or that
or...sometimes neither....
I am so very late with my wall hanging swap...thank goodness for sweet and mightily patient crafters. Now, it wasn't for a lack of trying mind you. There was a collage type of wall hanging begun - then abandoned. Then I thought maybe I would give a banner a whirl, then dumped that idea. So now, I was thinking and thinking while crocheting for another project when I thought what a nice backing this thick piece would be.
And this is where it went....
Trees have been on my mind lately. The smell of them (pine), the look of them....missing them a bit (I think we need to get hiking more). And birds? Always. Love, love birds.
I was thinking this would be nice in a child's room. Maybe hung inside of a playstand area...it's certainly sturdy enough to withstand some play and wear and tear. Or maybe a pillow? Or possibly repurposed into a bag? So many possibilities if the wall hanging thing doesn't fly. I love that about making things...the possibilities are endless....

Blast 42 :: Wild horses...
They look pretty wild for farm horses, don't you think? Sassy shetlands to be sure....
(pattern from Feltcraft by Berger).
More swap feltyness (yes, pulling that word out of thin air ;) heading out to the Bits of Goodness's Farm Swap. My little one soooo wanted these. I can't decide if I'll make her a bunch for now, just for fun or if I'll make her some with some other friends and save it all for the holiday giving....time (or the amount of it, really) will tell ;) Either way, there will surely be more farm crafting coming along.
Let me look into my crystal crafting ball here....ahhhh yyyes, I'm seeing playmats..sheep....mice...cows....oh my, should be so fun :)

Blast 38 :: Heart Swap
hearts
(trying to photograph a mobile in Irene...little windy?)Ah...there, that's a bit better...(front)
(and the back...)
More late night felt goodness from the sewing basket (it seems to be a bottomless pit, doesn't it?!).
I joined Natural Suburbia's heart swap a while back and finally created a little something for my swap partner. It took so long because I was just so ridiculously nervous about making something nice and maybe even a little special. I finally realized that the point was to connect with someone far and wide and that in itself was a pretty special thing.
Linda paired me up with someone from my own state and geographically not too far from me too! How fun is that? Thanks to Linda for this beautiful idea! I'm thinking about organizing a local craft swap in around here ~ maybe you might be inspired to do the same and how fun would that be?

Blast 20 :: Turning the page...
A little something for those lovely ladies over at Bits of Goodness participating in the Mama Swap. Great call Hallie! We moms need a little handmade love sometimes too :)
I was trying to think of something personal but, with the possibility of so many tastes and styles, not too personal. Jewelry was my first choice but I was short on beads and then...what if it wasn't their style? I wanted those moms to really enjoy their little gift. I fretted a bit then decided on my close second - bookmarks. After all, you don't have to wear them and you can even shut your book to the sight of them if you're really appalled ;) A little reminder from one mom to another to take a little time for yourself....and maybe, soak up those last days of summer reading...
